Formerly known as “Motel row”, Sunny Isles Beach got its current name in 1997. It is situated between the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Intracoastal Waterway on the west, the northernmost beach in Miami. This two-mile-long beach is accessible from both Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Cruise ship ports and two airports are just about 30 minutes away. It takes only a few minutes here to realize it is one of those places perfect for families with kids. We will explain why.
General information about Sunny Isles Beach
Sunny Isles Beach is a place of world-class restaurants, nightclubs, theaters, cultural destinations and, of course, the beaches. Sunny Isles Beach has miles of gorgeous white sand, nice public parks and a lot of places for kids to play – all that a place perfect for families with kids’ needs. Museums are accessible, shopping, spas, sports stadiums, golf, tennis, boating, and diving are all part of Sunny Isles Beach’s appeal. You can even leave kids to your significant other and go fishing.
Parks in Sunny Isles beach
There are 11 parks in Sunny Isles beach in total, which makes this place perfect for families with kids. Especially if you have small children.
For families, moving to a new neighborhood in Sunny Isles Beach such as Heritage Park is a must with two great playgrounds and four-acres of green space. Playgrounds are covered and they are the perfect place to escape and have some quality time with your little ones. Also, one to mention is Intracoastal Park and across the street, you can find Pier Park or Newport fishing pier. For children, it is especially interesting to watch people who were fishing from there. It is strangely quiet and beautiful at the same time. Very scenic landmark.
The pier is also a good spot for lunch or dinner, with a wide variety of fresh fish, sushi, and salads. Head outside for lunch on the actual pier, eat on comfy couches, and enjoy a great view of Sunny Isles Beach. One of the reasons why Sunny Isles Beach is perfect for families with kids is that you have ample opportunities to be outside, enjoy the weather, and have lots of fun.
In the multicultural spirit of Miami, you will also find Peruvian “Cvi.Che 105”, “El Tropico Cuban Cuisine” where my son’s favorite was the Cuban sandwich. As we are family obsessed with all kinds of sports, visit to Duffy’s Sports Grill was planned before we even came here.
If you are moving to Sunny Isles Beach, you will have lots of places where you can take your kids. You will be able to have fun together or just leave them in safe hands while you are off doing something else. Relocation with kids here will be even easier if you use professionals such as Miami Movers for Less who are more than capable to pack your entire home while you entertain your children. These are places you should check out after moving to Sunny Isles Beach.
Dezerland Park Miami
I was amazed by this place, and I am a go-cart veteran. The food at the snack-bar is priced appropriate, which is a rarity. Staff was polite and helpful, and I have to add very patient with kids who were trying go-karts for the first time. Although go-kart experience was nice for them, the VR was their favorite part. I never saw them jump around so much. They also have a ninja course and a large number of arcades. Perfect for families with kids.
Sunny Isles Beach Water Sports
Ask for Adam, he is one of the owners. As we were all first-timers with stand up paddle boarding, he was very patient and helpful. He knew all the windy spots and guided us around like a pro. We all had so much fun. It was a perfect experience for a family with kids.
The next day we went kayaking at Oleta River Outdoor Center, a similar establishment that deserves to be mentioned. If I gave the previous establishment 5 stars, this one gets 4 and a half.
Worth mentioning is Aventura Mall where you can indulge your shopping urges. It has two levels with lots of art pieces around. It has a play area for kids and the most important part is that parking is covered. So you don’t have to sit in a scorching car after a nice shopping run.
In the end, being anywhere near Miami and not visiting Everglades and explore it with airboats is a blasphemy. Kids enjoyed the ride and there were amazed by gators. All in all, there are numerous reasons why Sunny Isles Beach is perfect for families with kids. If you have a chance to visit it just for a day, don’t miss it. On the other hand, it looks like a great place to settle.
